Hershey now trying to buy Cadbury, after Cadbury told Kraft to get bent!
Seriously what is with these American corporate and souless companies trying to agressively take over one of our beloved brands. Ok there are things America do so much better than us, Buffalo Wings and Pizza being the biggest. But Chocolate I’m sorry they can’t get it right.
Historically Hershey and other chocolate companies have aimed squarely at the child market, hence the term “candy”. Chocolate here in Europe goes for a much broader demographic and - although not as good as the Swiss chocs - Cadbury is still awesome.
More to the point Bourneville, where Cadbury is in my home town of Birmingham, is unique for the fact it was built and created by the Quaker family Cadbury. Looking around Bourneville you will first notice no pubs, and then the amazing way that the Cadbury Factory quite litteray blends in with its surroundings. Bourneville was planned as a piece of the country within the big city, hiding the giant factory with open fields, trees and gardens.
To see these hostile take over bids by these giant American corps who are looking for the “quick buck” I only have one thought that I would like to say to them……..FUCK OFF!
